Pastor's Words

Hello, Glenstone!

I'm excited about our CHURCH MEMORIES WORKSHOP which is scheduled for Sunday, November 3, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Our church's history is yesterday, last week, last month, last year, and all the way back to our founding. Church history reflects the constant love and absolute power of God as well as the successes and the failures, victories and defeats of His imperfect followers. The ups and downs of our history affect how we see ourselves today.

Our CHURCH MEMORIES WORKSHOP will give us an opportunity to review our past, both positive and negative. The focus of this project is to VIEW THE CHURCH'S HISTORY THROUGH THE EYES OF CHRIST. To implement this we will examine theletters of our Lord to the seven churches in Revelation 2 & 3.

The workshop will include three major parts: (1) What did Jesus say to these seven churches? (2) What would Jesus say to Glenstone Baptist? (3) What are the good memories and painful memories throughout the time each of us has been a part of Glenstone?

PRAYER REQUEST: On November 7, Karen Cook, Julius Raines, myself and about 40 others will fly to Chile on mission with

International Commission to tell people in the cities of Puerto Mott, Orsono and Valdivia about our Lord Jesus Christ. Please pray for those of us who go and for the churches with whom we will be working. The power of intercessory prayer cannot be overestimated.

I've enlisted some great preachers to fill the pulpit while I am away. November 10, Dr. Rob Phillips of the Missouri Baptist Convention; November 17, our DOM, Dr. Mike Haynes in the Morning Service, and my pastor at Hamlin, Mark Killingsworth in the Evening. They will feed you well!

I am very thankful to our Lord for the opportunity of serving GBC. Thank you for your support and prayers.

Because He Lives!

Brother Jim
